Assistant Nurse (03 Positions)- IOM (28 June 2016)

Position Title: Assistant Nurse (03 Positions)
Duty Station: Damak, Nepal
Estimated Starting Date: As soon as possible
Classification: Ungraded (UG) 
Type of Appointment: Special Short Term (3 months with possibility of extension) 
GENERAL FUNCTION:
  • Under the supervision of Health Assessment Processing Officer (HAPO) and Deputy Head Nurse, with the guidance from the Chief Migration Health Physician (CMHN) for technical matters the successful candidate will be responsible for providing support the Resettlement Health Assessment Programmes through activities, related to nursing and clerking. In particular, she/he will:
  • Assist Migration Health Physician (MHP) in Medical Data Entry, organizing follow up following MHP’s advice and also work as a Chaperon to assist Refugees during physical examination
  • Photocopy, printing and compile medical form, medical report and required documents.
  • Ensure the examination room, floor, furniture, bed, and curtain are particular clean. Hygienic items are available.
  • Maintain the daily check list of medical examination equipment to ensure its functioning properly.
  • Ensure necessary form and photocopy paper are available.
  • Identified the patients and report any fraud attempt to see panel physician.
  • Collect referral sheet from MHP for follow up unit and complete medical files to mail out unit on daily basis 
  • Collect vaccines prescription from MHP for immunization unit and hold medical files for sending them to follow up unit
  • Prepare list of follow up activities for each patient and update the MHP regularly to get them finalized on time.
  • Coordinate with follow unit, collect medical reports/results and distribute to panel physician.
  • Repeat vital signs, body weight, height, temperature etc. as required by panel physician
  • Assist panel physician and nurses in medical emergency management.
  • Performing such other duties as may be assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Education
  • Secondary education is required and equivalent certificate of assistant nurse/midwife.
Experience
  • At least three years of experience in clinical practice. 
  • Compassionate attitude to the patients. Good bedside manners.
  • Good command of spoken and written English. 
  • Computer literacy with good typing speed (40-60 wpm)
  • Willingness and ability to work under pressure.

Cultural and gender sensitivity: ability to work with the colleagues with different cultural backgrounds.
Languages
  • Fluency in English, Nepali is required.
